Upcoming Exhibitions

Joel Fine Art is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition of works by Emma Langridge and James Parrett, in association with Andrew Gaynor. In both 2004 and 2005, Langridge was a finalist for the Metro 5 Art Prize, and is represented in major corporate and private collections in Western Australia and Victoria. Parrett was a finalist in the McClelland Contemporary Sculpture Survey for 2005 and 2007 and is represented in public and private collections in Victoria.

Scheduled for 2009, Joel Fine Art is delighted to be exhibiting the works of renowned botanical artist John Pastoriza- Piñol and two other internationally celebrated artists, working within the same genre. These artists form a select group exploring unusual and rare species of flora, in often a macabre manner, unseen in many works of botanical art.

The Red Tide Exhibition

Joel Fine Art is pleased to announce its participation in the Queensland Festival of Photography by exhibiting Vivienne Kelly’s The Red Tide, which opens on Saturday 26 April. The Red Tide is a collection of photographic works that journey into imagined and constructed habitats where mysterious and ancient life systems from the ocean appear on land. The phosphorescent plankton that occur in a ‘red tide’ produce their own light through bioluminescence, and it is this kind of behaviour along with the characteristics of photosynthesis that form the basis for the exhibition. The Queensland Festival of Photography is a month long program involving 20 institutions and galleries from Brisbane to Toowoomba to Cairns showcasing the diverse nature of contemporary photographic practice across Australia. Artists participating include Tracey Moffatt, Bill Henson, Patricia Piccinini and Marian Drew. The Red Tide opens at Joel Fine Art, 159 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington on Saturday 26 April at 4pm and Vivienne Kelly will present an artist talk the following day at 2pm.
